Our Story: A Legacy of Innovation in Pig Farming
Jeff Hansen, a third-generation Iowa farmer, and his wife, Deb Hansen, started their journey in Iowa Falls, Iowa. In 1976, they converted an old barn into a farrowing facility, purchased three sows and began raising pigs.
With a vision for modernization, Hansen developed decks for sows to improve efficiency and soon launched Modern Hog Concepts, an equipment supply company serving Midwest pork producers.
The Birth of Iowa Select Farms
In 1992, we started with 10,000 sows and a vision to build a farming business producing high-quality pork while fostering job creation and economic growth in Iowa’s rural communities.
Iowa Select Farms Today: A Leader in Pork Production
Fast-forward to today. Iowa Select Farms is the largest family-owned pork production company in the U.S., marketing over five million hogs annually. With 800 farms in 55 Iowa counties, we continue to drive Iowa’s rural economy forward.
