Overview of our Supply Chain Team
Iowa Select Farms has been around since 1992 and has an internal Supply Chain team that utilizes a handful of warehouses, and we’re staffed with a Procurement team to fulfill our farms orders and to have better control over biosecurity. Our Supply Chain team supports all farms, nearing a total of 900 in all.
Our Supply Chain team fulfills orders with over 4 million units of inventory and has a purchasing range of $50MM to $100MM annually. We work with suppliers domestically and internationally to provide the best product at the best price to our farms and maintenance teams.
What We’re Looking For
Our company is looking for strong suppliers that we can build a strong professional relationship with. We need a strong supplier partner that can provide a consistent order fulfillment timeline with a track record of avoiding out of stocks. We are relatively low maintenance with our supplier partners as long as the supply chain remains undisturbed.
We act as a retail distributor for our farms. Not only do we need farm supplies to help raise our pigs and keep them healthy, but we also carry items like cleaning supplies, motors, tools, hygiene products, equipment parts, cables, office supplies, electronics, appliances, clothing, etc.
What to Expect
To be upfront, with the nature of how we operate through bulk purchasing, we must go for the lowest price on the market for any provided product so long as quality remains the same. Each item we offer will be reviewed annually by our team to ensure the best price on widely available items. We want this to be known as we do not want any of our supplier partners to be stuck with any inventory in the event their prices are not competitive with another supplier. There are situations where we work with the supplier to deplete their inventory prior to switching, specifically around items that are specific to Iowa Select Farms, or special inventory buildup to help us in a market downturn.
