A Child's World Receives Little Farmer Toy Box

“It's fun to see kids get excited about farm toys and tractors just like we did when we were kids,” said Shaun Flander, a member of the Iowa Select Farms finance team who nominated his child’s day care for the newest initiative of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation. “I think it’s great for kids to be excited about farming, especially since we're such as strong ag state.”
The day care providers at A Child’s World received toys after being nominated through the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation’s Henry’s Heroes newest initiative–the Little Farmer Toy Box project.
“We so appreciate Iowa Select Farms for giving back to our day care,” said Nancy Fuller, co-director of A Child’s World. “We know the kids are going to love these toys and we look forward to sharing them. We are thankful for Iowa Select Farms thinking of us and their willingness to give back to a day care like ours.”
“Child care is essential to keeping agriculture moving forward,” said Ali Kraber, a representative of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation. “Our employees cannot do their important job without affordable, accessible and quality day cares throughout the state. We’re so appreciative of those who make their living caring for children and want to show it through this effort.”
“A Child’s World is crucial for my wife and me who both be work full-time jobs,” said Shaun. “We’re thankful Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation would give back to them in such a meaningful way.”
The Henry’s Heroes program was launched in 2019 as an official program of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation. Inspired by Henry Johnson–Jeff and Deb Hansen’s first grandchild and the son of Natalie and Jake Johnson–each year his parents identify a new project aimed at helping children and those organizations who protect, serve, foster, educate, and develop our youngest of Iowans.
Yesterday kicked off a two-month, multi-county tour to deliver the Little Farmer Toy Box to 100 daycares and providers across Iowa. Each colorful toy box is filled with farming-inspired books, toys and learning materials uniquely curated for 1-to-4-year-old children.
