Belmond Public Library is Excited to Add STEM Cart

“It was surprising to go for the first time and see bilingual books on the shelves,” said Denia Perez Barron, an employee of Iowa Select Farms. “My son learned to read in two languages, which is special to me. To be able to find a variety of books in both Spanish and English makes us feel like we are part of this community.”

Sonya Trager, Librarian at Belmond Public Library says, “We are so excited and overjoyed to add the STEM cart to our library and collection. We look forward to being able to promote STEM learning activities in our community through our children’s programs this summer. We are so grateful to Denia and her family for nominating our library.”

Founded in 2006, the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation carries out programs across Iowa focused on providing hunger relief, showing gratitude to the armed services and supporting families impacted by childhood cancer. Jeff and Deb Hansen are the founders and owners of Iowa Select Farms, a family-owned, Iowa-based pork production company with 1,850 employees and contractors across rural Iowa.
