Donating to Presby Child Care in Perry

“From the smallest farming communities to the larger urban cities, a can-do attitude exists in all corners of Iowa,” said Ali Kraber, a representative of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation. “When a community like Perry needed a day care center, the community rallied and help make it happen with Presby Child Care. We have loved telling these stories and most importantly, giving back to something that is mission critical to the entire food supply chain here in Iowa. We could not feed the world without our day care providers, so from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”

We wrapped up the fourth day of Little Farmer Toy Box deliveries with a visit to Presby Child Care in Perry. A small day care with big ambitions, what started out as a small center has quickly grown to accommodate nearly 30 children, equipped with a playground, several learning rooms dedicated to different age groups and lots of space for kids to take on many activities.

In a diverse community like Perry, we know a Little Farmer Toy Box will help expose children to agriculture that may not know what it means to Iowa and the world,” said Don, a supporter of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation. “Many children in this area come from a more urban setting and may not know just how important agriculture is. So, to give them little John Deere tractors, playmates that showcase a farm setting and show them books that have all sorts of animal noises so they can learn about them and purpose of that animal serves is in agriculture will help introduce as well as reinforce agriculture in Iowa to kids who may otherwise not have had that chance.”

Pastor Lynne Hanna was so excited to receive a bunch of new toys for the day care. To have a day care like this is a team effort, and we just really appreciate the community embracing us from the beginning to become what we are today.

“We are able to provide care to children from ages 6-weeks to preschool, and serve families with multiple children,” said Pastor Lynne. “However, a center like this with staff, good materials and great learning spaces, does not come together overnight. It’s a lot of work, and thankfully our community has really rallied around us cause that’s what we do in Iowa. What we did not expect is the generosity of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation and Iowa Select Farms to pick our day care to give back to. It’s times like this, I feel beyond blessed to be in Iowa and know there is people out there like Jeff and Deb Hansen that want to give back to us. This is really what makes Iowa special.”
