Ed Fry"Everyone has something they like, and I like working for pigs," Meet Ed Fry, an invaluable friend to many and a wealth of industry knowledge, who we are lucky enough to have had on the Iowa Select Farms team for 25 years.

You can take the man out of the farm, but you can't take the farm out of the man. Ed retired from us in 2018 but received a call just a few months later from a veterinarian needing a part-time GTC Transporter to deliver samples from farm to farm. "I didn't think about doing any work after retiring, but my first 21 years at Iowa Select Farms was good to me," Ed shared that he had a lot of professional growth throughout his career and couldn't turn down the opportunity to stay active and connected to the people and industry.

Ed began working and caring for pigs on his grandparents' farm when he was just ten years old. "I grew up in a time if you wanted something, you had to work hard for it." Watching the 80's farm crisis unfold taught him a lot, "pig farming is a team effort; I am a big believer there is no 'I' in team."

When Ed isn't in the driver's seat, his favorite hobby is camping with his wife, Sandy. The couple recently returned from a trip to Hannibal, Missouri, with friends. Ed also takes great pride in his family and enjoys spending time with his two sons and four grandkids.

Congrats, Ed, and thank you for spending 25 years and counting with us!
