With the Fourth of July upon us, we thought it would be appropriate to start our 2019 Foundation program review with Project: Food and Fellowship. This was a new program in 2019 for the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation, and it truly is a memory maker for military families.
When we heard that family readiness coordinators could not supply food at some military family events, we knew something had to be done. We listened to our friends in the military, veterans groups and military community volunteers and decided a small grant program that takes care of the little touches that make events wonderful and joyful would be just the right fit for us.
The applications that came in were truly heartwarming, and we loved all 10 projects that we had a small part in bringing to life in 2019. From brats to bouncy houses, pig cookies to popcorn, we had a blast in partnering with groups across the state.
All told, the program touched 3,623 families in all 99 counties.
