Fun at the Back-to-School Bash

It was a night for the books! School books that is…as over 100 kids and families came out to the Hansen Home for Hope Monday night for a fun-filled Back-to-School Bash. Crafts, bead bracelets, outdoor games, board games, puzzles, free school supplies and more, it was a night chalk full of back-to-school fun to help families of Children’s Cancer Connection get back in the school spirit.

“My daughter had chemotherapy and a spinal tap just this morning but tonight I couldn’t even keep up with her,” said one mom. “She was running around the halls, making crafts and playing with her friends all night. It was amazing, I couldn’t believe it!”

Families were treated to dinner and outdoor activities, along with fun raffles and fellowship. Later in the evening kids participated in three “classes”—Art, English and Recess, of course. At the end of the night the families picked out their school and art supplies, all donated by the employees and contractors of Iowa Select Farms.

The Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation had the pleasure of partnering with Children’s Cancer Connection to host this special event at the Hansen Home for Hope, a house entirely dedicated to supporting families dealing with childhood cancer.

The Back-to-School Bash was a fun way for the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation and Children’s Cancer Connection to create an opportunity for them to get ready and excited for the school year and also connect them with other families and children who may be going through the same struggles.

A big thank you to all of the employees and contractors who donated school supplies and to the volunteers from both Iowa Select Farms and Children’s Cancer Connection for coming out to help make this night a tremendous success.
