Congratulations to Kaylynn Smit on your Iowa Select Farms Future Ag Leaders Scholarship! Kaylynn graduated from Ridgeview High School in Holstein in 2015 and is now studying Nursing at Iowa Central Community College.
Kaylynn is the daughter of Carl Smit of Holstein. “I was raised to understand morals, a hard work ethic and the value of a good education,” she says. “This is why I have chosen to pursue a career as a registered nurse.”
“My dad, Carl, works for Iowa Select Farms and in his free time farms land and livestock,” she says. “He has made tremendous sacrifices to help me achieve my academic goals. Being a single parent of three, it hasn’t always been easy for him but he has always been willing to push me and assist me in building a successful life for myself.”
“Along with my infatuation for science, I chose this career path to make significant impacts in the lives of others. I currently work for a medical staffing agency as a traveling nurse’s assistant to hospitals and nursing homes with staffing needs. I love my job and the rewards it brings.”
Carl is a finishing supervisor for Iowa Select Farms and has been with the company for 11 years.
