“While I am not pursuing a career in agriculture, I still want to be a part of agriculture. I want to be able to give back,” says Karissa. “I enjoy being around animals and taking care of them. I like watching them grow and develop over the course of their lives.”

Our next Future Ag Leader Scholarship recipient is Karissa. She hails from Lohrville and is the daughter of Kim and Robby, both Iowa Select Farms contractors. Karissa is currently studying Kinesiology at Iowa State University with the goal of eventually getting her doctorate in physical therapy. She has enjoyed an active lifestyle since she was young, participating in in 4-H, a variety of sports, choir, National Honor Society, and student council. She plans to continue to be involved in intramurals to stay active in college.

Karissa has enjoyed all the fun family activities that Iowa Select has offered her family throughout the years, especially the Iowa State football games. Going to these ISU games may have influenced her college choice.

Karissa is inspired to try new things and work hard toward her goals because of her favorite quote, “Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.”

We hope this quote inspires her to continue overcoming challenges and enjoying the rewards. Keep up the great work Karissa!
