Future Ag Scholarship Winner - Alexa

Alexa, one of our Future Ag Leader Scholarship winners who calls Riceville home, has some big goals. She is currently attending Northeast Iowa Community College for Dairy Science Technology and then plans to continue her education at Iowa State University. Her dream is to become veterinarian one day.
It’s clear Alexa is passionate about agriculture. Between her on-farm experiences and background in FFA, she has realized her passion for working with animals.
“Knowing my passion will not only help me get to where I want to be but might help me get places that I couldn’t imagine,” she explained.
Alexa credits her dad Ivan, a wean to finish manager at Iowa Select Farms, and her stepdad Brad for inspiring her to pursue a career in agriculture. She appreciates the hard-working culture that Iowa Select Farms is known for as well as the great pork they provide.
As she thinks of her aspirations of becoming a veterinarian, Alexa is reminded of her favorite quote, “It doesn’t get easier, you just get stronger.” These words remind her that there will be challenges ahead, but that she will grow from them.
