“Growing up, I always enjoyed being on the farm and being with animals,” said Katelyn, another Iowa Select Farms Future Ag Leader scholarship winner. “Riding in the tractor and helping with chores around the farm was something I always looked forward to.”
Katelyn is from Rockwell City and is the daughter of Dan and Lori. Dan is a sow farm supervisor with Iowa Select Farms and Lori is a teacher. Her parents helped inspire her love of both animals and education. She was able to further develop these passions through her involvement in FFA.
“My mom has been a role model to me, showing me how much a teacher can have a positive impact on a student’s life,” Katelyn said.
She is currently attending Buena Vista University to earn her elementary education degree.
Katelyn hopes her love of agriculture will be transferred to children in her future classroom. She will work to incorporate farming and animals into their learning so that they can be introduced to the joys of agriculture.
We are wishing you all the best in your future endeavors, Katelyn. Keep educating others about agriculture!
