Future Ag Scholarship Winner-Owen

“I have always loved the family atmosphere that Iowa Select Farms brings to every gathering,” said Owen, a 2021 Iowa Select Farms scholarship recipient. “It really shows the culture that has been built here.”
Growing up in a family rooted in agriculture, Owen feels at home within this community. His father, Brian, is the director of maintenance and nutrient management, and has a long history of working in agriculture. Brian values the importance of the industry and showcased that throughout Owen’s childhood. Having two sets of grandparents that live on farms, Owen was able to experience first-hand how agriculture makes a difference. This has led him to aspirations of staying within the ag industry and continuing a family tradition.
A native of Gilbert, Owen was involved with many activities in and out of school but found that his true strength is with numbers. He will be attending the University of Northern Iowa this fall to pursue a degree in Actuarial Science. Owen is always up for a challenge and works to not be complacent, especially since his favorite quote is, “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”
If you put your trust and faith in Owen, he will always deliver while giving 110%. This drive and determination should serve him well in all his future endeavors. Congratulations, Owen, and good luck this year!
