“We serve a lot of young families and you can tell they don’t have a lot,” said Patty Banks of Howard County Action Food Pantry in Cresco. “We do as much as we can to help them out, and these pork loins are going to make them so happy. They’re a real treat.”
Our Haul Out Hunger crew has enjoyed meeting up with Patty for the past several years to fill the pantry’s freezer full of Iowa Select Farms pork. For this year’s donation we brought 6 cases of pork loins – 1,728 servings of pork for local families in Howard County.
“This pantry has helped a lot of people and we’re proud to be able to provide them with a good amount of food for their families,” said Patty. “I don’t turn anyone away. If they need food – they need food.”
The Howard County Action Food Pantry serves 40-50 families a month and relies on the assistance of local volunteers to organize grocery bags of food for clients.
“We don’t even know anyone’s situation,” continued Patty. “Sometimes they were just let go from a job or had expenses elsewhere that needed to be paid. We’re here to lend a helping hand to those that have fallen on hard times.”
In addition to providing families with perishable and nonperishable food items, the pantry also helps students with school supplies, hats and winter coats.
Thanks to Patty and her crew for all that you’re doing to take a stand against hunger in Howard County. We love working with you!
