Our first stop was in Lake City where we met with Janelle from the Union Methodist Church, which houses the Lake City Food Pantry and serves 110 families each month. Families in need will be able to grab a box when they stop in to visit the pantry. The boxes are filled with items not covered by government support programs, such as bottles, diapers, children’s medicine, shampoo, body wash, lotion and other hygiene products.
“These items area so expensive for parents to buy,” said Janelle. “Our community members will be thrilled to have these available when they stop by to visit the pantry.”
Next we stopped at New Opportunities in Rockwell City. This organization serves approximately 250-400 families in Calhoun County, and will add the Henry’s Heroes boxes to their emergency food pantry for families in need of children’s care items.
