Algona Public Library Receives Henry's Heroes STEM Cart

With summer reading programs in full swing, we are thrilled to help out the library teams who are making a significant impact in their communities.
The Algona Public Library has a whopping 500 students enrolled in its summer programs!
Garrett Wirtz—a feed supplier, manure customer and contracted site manager for Iowa Select Farms—nominated the library for one of 50 STEM carts offered free from the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation and Iowa Select Farms.
He notes that STEM is essential to any child's learning, especially in rural Iowa.
“We have so many careers in Kossuth County related to STEM, and introducing these concepts to children early in a fun learning environment is so important,” said Wirtz. “With Hormel, Pioneer/Corteva, Snap-On, Spemco and many other manufacturers plus lots of agriculture and livestock production in our county, STEM is everywhere.”
“Our library does a fantastic job of bringing in kids from many different communities around Kossuth and Palo Alto counties,” said Wirtz. “The benefits of the resources they provide for kids and adults can be seen throughout our community.”
"I beg to differ in an age where some may say libraries are dying," Wirtz goes on to say. "Libraries for our family and community are a social place for parents and a fun environment for kids. Adding a Henry's Heroes STEM project would add to the appeal of our library.”
Let's continue inspiring young minds, promoting creativity, and unlocking the potential of future innovators! Together, we can make a lasting impact on our community's growth and success.
