On November 1st, the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation, through our Food and Fellowship program, donated over 4,000 pork loins to local veteran organizations and schools hosting a 2023 Veterans Day event.   

We believe that food has the power to bring people together, and it's our goal to help keep these special Veterans Day celebrations alive.

Each case of pork loins was accompanied by an event kit, complete with patriotic aprons, disposable placemats, buttons, table decorations, and Styrofoam cups for coffee.

“After attending several local Veterans Day events last year, we were touched to see how close-knit and meaningful each celebration was for veterans, their families and friends, and their communities,” said Jen Sorenson, Communications Director for Iowa Select Farms. “We saw free breakfasts, programs at the schools, free suppers at the Legion, presentations of Quilts of Valor, bands playing ‘America the Beautiful.’ Something truly special happens at these Veterans Day events and we wanted to contribute to help keep these celebrations going.”

More than 100 community organizations traveled near and far throughout Iowa to our West Des Moines office to receive their pork loins and event kits to celebrate and serve those who served our country. Below are the organizations we were fortunate to serve this year.
