Kaci Celebrates 15 Years at Iowa Select Farms

“I love what I get to do every day, for a company as passionate about animal care as I am,” said Kaci, Jamestown sow farm manager.
While in college pursuing a degree in education, Kaci worked part-time at Erickson Sow Farm. Her mom, Mary and step-dad, Aaron, worked for the company. During that time, she developed a passion for animal agriculture and began a journey that led her to where she is today—managing Jamestown Sow Farm.
At Jamestown, she oversees a team of 16 employees, all focused on caring for sows and their piglets. Her mom and step-dad also still work for the company. Mary is the manager at Erikson Sow Farm, and Aaron manages Primrose.
Kaci said that she had seen many changes that have made the company stronger over the years. She points specifically to animal care and our commitment to being an industry leader. “I appreciate how we’re always looking for better ways to care for the animals, so they are healthy and productive,” said Kaci. “It motivates me and keeps me excited about coming to work every day. Seeing and being a part of the progress is rewarding.”
Kaci also appreciates the opportunities for employees to grow their leadership skills and raise their voices to help drive positive change in recruitment and retention.
“In the last ten years, I’ve been impressed with how many opportunities employees have to participate in leadership activities,” she said. “For example, the new PeopleCare Leadership Council has made a great point of listening to the needs of employees and taking action to make a change. It’s only going to continue to make us better.”
Kaci is an encourager of her team, first to drive fellowship and teamwork on the farm and then to get involved in giving back to their communities through the efforts of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation.
“I’m so grateful to work for a company that gives back to so many communities within the state of Iowa, including my own,” said Kaci, who is a regular at our Operation Christmas Meal pork loin giveaways. “I often have my team asking about how to get involved with upcoming Foundation events because they cannot wait to help. Iowa Select Farms makes it fun and easy to give back and do good.”
The native of Riceville now lives in Brownsdale, Minnesota with her husband Nick and their four children, Valen (10), Bella (12), Tyson (17) and Gage (19).
Thank you, Kaci, for your years of service with Iowa Select Farms!
