Our Director of Health Services Pete Thomas, DVM, talks about our approach to reduce antibiotic use throughout our farms through aggressive evaluation and diagnostics, targeted treatment and documentation and reporting that allows the vet team to identify herd health patterns.
On the prevention side, Dr. Thomas explains our investment in positive pressure filtration systems for our gilt developers and sow farms, which keeps viruses that spread via aerosol from entering their barns. This technology is a big part of our overall strategy to keep our herds healthy, prevent new diseases from getting in and reduce our medication use.
