"You can't run a pantry like this on your own, let alone with just 2 or 3 people," said Gwen Simpson, of the Lamoni Food Pantry. "When you combine all of the different people, churches and businesses that support us, it probably adds up to more than 100 individuals. It takes everyone working together to keep a pantry like ours running."
Located in the basement of the United Methodist Church, the Lamoni Food Pantry opens it's doors three days a week and serves in upwards of 200 families every month.
"We had a single mother and her baby come in last week and she was almost moved to tears," said Gwen. "I think she was overwhelmed at the support we could give her. From baby formula and diapers to canned goods, bread and even meat for her, she was just really grateful for help we could give her that day."
Haul Out Hunger filled the freezers at the Lamoni Food Pantry with 84 pork loins, enough to provide 1,512 protein-packed pork for area families in-need.
