Manure management is a key component of our sustainability efforts, and our dedicated team of manure haulers plays a crucial role in this process.

Matt Swanson, owner of Swanson Customs, is one of the many skilled applicators who work with our team. With 16 years of experience, Matt and his crew continuously adapt to new technologies and regulations, all in pursuit of safeguarding our environment and shrinking our footprint. “For me, it’s about making a difference,” says Matt. “I grew up working with hogs and applying manure, and now I have the opportunity to turn that into my business.”

As a small business owner and family man, Matt understands the importance of preserving our water sources and exploring clean fertilizer alternatives. Instead of relying on expensive synthetic fertilizers, he sees the value in utilizing nutrient-rich manure available in our own backyard.
Manure contains essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, which enrich the soil and contribute to higher crop yields for our pig feed. Integrating manure management into our farm’s ecosystem creates a closed-loop system where waste is recycled and reused, significantly reducing our carbon footprint.

Advancements in manure application technology further enhance our sustainability efforts. Equipment like injectors, equipped with flow meters, ensure more precise distribution of manure, minimizing odors, maximizing effectiveness, and reducing runoff into waterways. Moreover, these new technologies enable Matt and his team to complete their tasks more efficiently. What once took long hours can now be finished in significantly less time, thanks to innovations that allow for faster and more accurate manure application.
