Operation Christmas Meal visits Ringgold County

"I hope that when people come to this event they see that we are truly a family-first company," said Chris Madren, maintenance technician at Iowa Select Farms. "My daughter looks forward to this event just as much, if not more, than I do. When she hands a pork loin to someone and says, 'Merry Christmas,' she gets a light in her eye— and I think that's pretty cool."
Our hearts are still warm (and luckily our toes finally are, too!) from Operation Christmas Meal in Pocahontas last night. From 5-7p.m. our local employees and contractors handed out nearly 1,000 pork loins for families in need.
"I live not too far from here in Rolfe," continued Madren. "It's special for all of us, the employees, to be able to give back to the communities where we work and live."
A program of Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation, Operation Christmas Meal kicked off Friday, November 30, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds and ended last night, December 10, in Pocahontas. Over the course of five days, our employees and contractors volunteered their time to hand out nearly 18,000 pork loins for Iowans in need this holiday season.
“We believe in giving back, especially in the rural communities across the state that we call home,” said Jeff Hansen, CEO of Iowa Select Farms and co-founder of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation. “Helping people is in the DNA of Iowa farmers, it’s just what we do.”
