Mt Ayr nurse with Madison“The Power Snack program is very beneficial for our families and community,” said Stacey Andresen, School Nurse at Mount Ayr Community School. “Last year I asked several participants about the coupons, and they were appreciative of the support. It is very helpful as the cost of groceries increases.”

The Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation has always had a passion for providing nutritious and delicious protein to Iowans in our rural communities, but it feels more important now than ever before. The economy is putting a strain on many pockets of families, and we do not want this to become a reason that students come to school hungry.

1,300 Power Snack coupons were delivered to Mount Ayr Community School District today to help combat this issue. We believe no child deserves to come to school hungry and unable to learn, and the coupons containing $8 for deli ham and $3 for a loaf of whole wheat bread will provide the nutrients needed to focus on their learning and development at school.
