Power Snack Goes Back to Bedford
posted on Wednesday, October 28, 2020
Hey Bedford—Power Snack is back!
Power Snack is a program of Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation that provides at-risk students grades K-12 with the food ingredients to make their own “Power Snacks”, protein-packed ham sandwiches, at home. And this year, we brought a lot of them with us for kids here in the community, 800 of them (+ 200 Pork Sticks)!
Each Power Snack contains two coupons, one for deli ham and the other for bread, and they can be redeemed at local grocery stores (yes, in Missouri, too!) so that when they’re not at school, or needing a nutritious meal to keep their tummy from rumbling and brain focused on learning, kids can make their own “Power Snacks” at home.
Now, she may be biased, but the Super Snacker LOVES Power Snacks because they’re loaded with protein and energy—things that every kiddo needs to grow their body and their brain. And dieticians agree! While it varies by age and activity level, most kids should be eating between 2 and 6 ½ ounces of protein a day.
We’re traveling across Iowa to donate 20,000 Pork Sticks and 97,5000 Power Snack coupon booklets for Iowa kiddos in need. Follow along as we fight hunger, one protein punch at a time!
