St. Ansgar FFA Organize Community Service Project at Christmas

We're so proud of the St. Ansgar FFA and Mrs. Kramer’s 7th grade social studies students for making a big difference in the lives of 24 local families.

The school's FFA chapter participated in the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation's Ignite the Spirit Program, an extension of Operation Christmas Meal.

Ignite the Spirit offers student FFA and 4H organizations two cases of pork loins and a $250 check to develop a project aimed at alleviating hunger, locally.

The FFA chapter used the $250 to purchase non-perishable food items to accompany the pork loin roast, and they also provided their own grapefruit and oranges for the food baskets. Grain Millers pitched in a container of oatmeal for each of the baskets.

Mrs. Kramer's 7th grade social studies classes--who were recently studying global poverty and food insecurity issues--caught wind of the project and wanted to help. Her classes donated more food items to the baskets and also helped the older FFA members assemble. Then, the school administration and staff distributed the baskets to 24 families in the school district.
