Striving to Set Standards Every Day

“I take a lot of pride in my farms, growers, and the company,” said Nick Rothmeier, a wean-to-market supervisor for Iowa Select Farms. As a wean-to-market supervisor, Nick oversees many farms and managers in Greene, Webster, Calhoun, and Dallas counties that rely on him as a guiding voice to improve their pig care every day. He works closely with 7 managers and their 21 farms, focusing on critical areas such as pig care, people care, pig health, biosecurity, and facility maintenance.

Nick began his career at Iowa Select Farms over seven years ago, working in the Gilt Development Unit (GDU) system. Reflecting on his experience during that time, he acknowledges the positive influence of his colleagues and supervisors – Jeremiah Hall, Craig Whalen, and Ryan Johnson. “I’ve taken a piece of each of my supervisors and incorporated that into the supervisor I am today,” he said.

While animal care is nothing new to Nick, transitioning into a supervisory role has introduced new tasks and challenges. Nick accepted a heavier workload and greater responsibilities, but he is grateful for the support and guidance he receives. “Each day brings new opportunities and, of course, a few challenges,” Nick noted. “But I always strive to set the standard for my growers and ensure we work hard to raise the best pigs possible.”

Nick’s supervisor, Jason Paysen, said he’s proud of Nick. “We work really well together. Nick has a great work ethic and passion for the business. I continue encouraging him daily and pushing him to his full potential.”

“I look forward to continuing my growth with Iowa Select Farms and being a valuable asset to the company,” said Nick.
