The Nevada FFA Chapter made a huge impact on the lives of 300 people in need. This inspiring mission was accomplished with the help of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation’s Ignite the Spirit program that’s offered alongside Operation Christmas Meal to fight food insecurity in Iowa.
These students annually host a community winter dinner where anyone can enjoy a nice dinner. In addition, over 40 meals are delivered to elderly community members and those who are economically challenged or food insecure. Students also collaborate with Food at First in Nevada through their charitable meal program.
Nevada FFA is one of almost 50 student-based organizations that applied for the Ignite the Spirit program offered by Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation. Ignite the Spirit gives student organizations two cases of pork loins and a $250 check to develop a project aimed at alleviating hunger, locally.
