"The students and families who receive our backpack buddies love the Power Snacks because it allows them to have food to make themselves on weekend," said Linda Tieman who helps facilitate the backpack program at North Union Elementary School. "It's a great way to benefit families who cannot always be home to make healthy meals for their children."

The Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation's Power Snack program is well underway as we battle childhood hunger in Iowa by delivering coupons to schools. With 1 in 8 children in Iowa facing food insecurity, it's important to continue driving the initiative of helping families and children live happy and healthy lives. The Power Snack coupon booklets contain easy-to-follow recipes, as well as two coupons. First, a $5 coupon for fresh deli ham and, secondly, a $3 coupon for a loaf of whole wheat bread.

200 Power Snack booklets are helping Linda and Jodi continue their backpack program. Additionally, as a nice compliment to the coupons, we left these warriors with 200 pork stick to serve students as a nutritious and protein filled snack during the school day.
