Iowa Select Farms workforce boasts 384 women. Women who care for animals, manage farms, lead departments and drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. We picked a few to share why they love agriculture in honor of National Women in Agriculture Day.

Meet Bailey. She’s the farrowing department head at Jernquist Sow Farm and lives in Mount Ayr (also the home of another fabulous female—space astronaut Peggy Whitson). Bailey’s level of care for the animals is tremendous.

She prides herself on being in tune to their attitudes.

“If you take the time to notice the temperaments of pigs, they are very funny animals; they love to play, and it can brighten your whole day. It is gratifying to know that we are doing something positive for these animals.”

Bailey grew up around agriculture and said she’s always enjoyed raising livestock. “I love taking care of the sows and their piglets. Watching them grow from newborns to weaned pigs is my favorite.”

She loves how agriculture is a huge contribution to society. "It feels good to know that we are helping to feed people." #WomenInAg2022
